Yes, you can schedule LinkedIn posts
LinkedIn lets you schedule a post from inside its own composer, and a handful of tools built for solo founders let you do it from further away, including from inside an AI chat. Both routes work. The difference is what happens between the moment you write the post and the moment it goes live, and for a founder posting under their own name, that gap is the part that matters.
How to schedule a LinkedIn post natively
LinkedIn added native scheduling to its own composer, so you do not need a third-party tool just to pick a future time. The steps are the same on desktop and most of the mobile app:
- Start a new post from the LinkedIn homepage, the same box you would use to post immediately.
- Write the post and add any image, document, or link.
- Click the clock icon in the bottom corner of the composer instead of the Post button.
- Pick a date and time from the picker that opens.
- Confirm, and the post moves to a scheduled queue instead of publishing right away.
- Check the queue from your own profile if you want to edit or cancel before it goes out.
This covers the basic case: one founder, one post, one future time. It does not give you a content calendar, a way to draft weeks of posts against a plan, or a way to hand the writing part to an AI assistant and just approve what comes back. That gap is what dedicated tools sell.
What LinkedIn content tools cost a solo founder per month
It's worth being straight about what the paid category actually charges, because most comparison pages round these numbers or quote them out of date.
Taplio is the tool most solo founders on LinkedIn already know by name. Taplio's Starter plan lists at $39 a month as of September 2026, from a check of Taplio's pricing on 5 September 2026. The Starter plan fits a founder who wants scheduling, the post library and basic analytics.
RobinReach prices its plans lower on the surface but separates the AI connection into its own tier. RobinReach's Bloom plan is $24 a month as of September 2026, from the same 5 September 2026 check. The Bloom plan is the plan that unlocks MCP and API access, the feature that lets Claude, ChatGPT, or another AI assistant send scheduling and content commands directly. RobinReach also runs separate marketing pages for X, YouTube, Threads, TikTok, and Google Business Profile.
Before you pick one of these two tools, check whether it holds a post back for the account owner to approve before it goes out. In a tool where scheduling is the whole feature, the post publishes once the time you picked arrives.
The real cost is the commitment, not the monthly fees
The sticker price of these plans is not what stops a solo founder from trying one of these tools. A founder running a company with real revenue does not lose sleep over a line item that size. What actually stops the trial is the subscription itself: committing to a monthly charge for a posting habit you have not built yet, based on a demo you watched once.
This is a real pattern, not a guess about willpower. Signing up for a paid plan before you know you’ll keep the habit is a bet on the habit, not a bet on software.
Building the posting habit first removes that bet. Pay for a tool only once the habit is real and the tool has earned it.
Why approval matters more than the price
More than price, there’s a design choice that matters for this exact buyer. A founder posting on LinkedIn is posting under their own name, to their own network, often including investors, customers, and future hires reading along. That is the person with the most to lose from a post that goes out wrong, whether the mistake is a typo, an off-tone caption, or an AI-generated image that doesn't land.
SocialPost holds every post for the owner's approval. Nothing goes out until the owner approves the post, no matter how the post was drafted or which AI assistant helped write it. You see the caption and the image before it goes live, every time, and you approve it or you don't.
One thing SocialPost does not do: it doesn’t write the post. With SocialPost, your own AI assistant, such as ChatGPT or Claude, writes the LinkedIn caption, and SocialPost renders the brand-correct image, formats the post, holds it for your approval, and schedules it. If you need long-form articles, that's a separate job.
Why the personal account matters more than a company page
The scheduling decision is also a strategy decision, and it favors the founder posting personally rather than through a company page. For a founder with no marketing hire, the account worth scheduling around is the founder's own, not a brand page nobody follows yet.
Steady posting is hard to keep in the weeks a founder is heads-down in the business. A scheduling tool exists to protect that cadence on the weeks a founder is heads-down in the business and has no time to sit and write. Our own LinkedIn stats playbook covers the wider engagement picture if you want the fuller numbers behind format and timing choices, and the best time to post guide is worth checking before you set a recurring schedule.
Choosing between native scheduling and a tool
A few questions settle this quickly:
- Do you only ever schedule one post at a time, with no drafting help needed? Native LinkedIn scheduling is enough, and it costs nothing.
- Do you already write inside an AI assistant and want the caption and image to move straight to a scheduled post without copy-pasting? That's the case a tool with an AI connection solves.
- Do you want to test the habit before paying for it? Start with LinkedIn's native scheduler, not a paid tier you might cancel in week two.
- Do you want to see the post before it goes out, every single time, regardless of who or what drafted it? That's an approval hold. Check for an approval hold before you connect an AI assistant to your account.
- Is the account posting under your own name, to your own network? If yes, the approval question above is the one to answer first.
FAQ
Can you schedule LinkedIn posts for free?
Yes. LinkedIn's own composer includes a scheduling option at no cost, and it needs no third-party tool. With SocialPost, your own AI assistant writes the caption, and SocialPost renders the image, holds the post for your approval, and schedules it.
Does LinkedIn allow third-party scheduling tools?
Yes, through LinkedIn's official API and partner integrations. Check whether a tool holds a post for owner approval before it publishes, because in a pure scheduler the post goes out once the scheduled time arrives.
What is the cheapest way to schedule LinkedIn posts with AI help?
LinkedIn's native scheduler costs nothing, so it is the cheapest way to test whether you'll post consistently. For AI help, keep the AI assistant you already use to write the caption, then check whether any paid tool holds each post for your approval before it publishes. With SocialPost, your assistant writes the caption and SocialPost renders the image, holds the post for your approval, and schedules it.
Is it safe to let an AI assistant post to LinkedIn automatically?
That depends entirely on whether the tool holds the post for your approval first. Check what each tool, including the ones named above, does with a post once the scheduled time hits. If a post going out unreviewed under your name is a risk you're not willing to take, use a tool built with an approval step, not just a scheduler.
How often should a solo founder post on LinkedIn?
