Connecting Claude or ChatGPT to SocialPost

SocialPost connects to the AI assistant you already use through the SocialPost connector. Once it's linked, you can ask your assistant to draft, schedule, and publish posts, and it works through your SocialPost workspace. This article covers both Claude desktop and ChatGPT.

What do I need before I start?

A SocialPost account with at least one social account connected, plus one of the following:
- For Claude: the Claude desktop app.
- For ChatGPT: a ChatGPT plan that supports plugins and developer mode.

Where do I find the connector URL?

Sign in to SocialPost in your browser and click Connect your AI assistant in the left sidebar. Open the tab for your assistant, Claude or ChatGPT, and copy the connector URL shown there.

Connecting Claude desktop

How do I add SocialPost in Claude desktop?

Open Claude desktop, go to Settings, then Connectors. Look for SocialPost in the list and click Connect. If it isn't listed, choose Add custom connector, paste the connector URL you copied, and give it a name.

How do I authorize Claude?

A SocialPost window opens. Sign in if you're asked to, review the permissions it's requesting, and click Authorize. Confirm any follow-up prompts, then return to the Claude desktop app.

Connecting ChatGPT

How do I enable developer mode in ChatGPT?

Open Settings, go to the Plugins section, and toggle on Developer mode. On some accounts this sits under Security. On Business, Enterprise, or Edu plans, a workspace admin has to turn on developer mode first, under the workspace permissions settings. Close settings when you're done.

How do I create the SocialPost plugin?

1. In Plugins, click the + icon to add a plugin.
2. Name it SocialPost Custom and add a description such as "SocialPost MCP."
3. Keep the connection set to Server URL and paste the connector URL.
4. Keep authentication on OAuth.
5. Acknowledge the notice about custom connectors, then click Create.

How do I connect and authorize the plugin?

Click Connect next to SocialPost Custom. When the authorization window opens, review what it can access and click Authorize.

After you connect

How do I confirm the connection worked?

Start a new chat and ask whether SocialPost is connected. When the permission prompt appears, allow it. Your assistant should confirm it can see your workspace and connected accounts.

How do I ask my assistant to write and schedule a post?

Tell it what you want, for example "write and schedule a LinkedIn post about [your topic]." It will ask about the angle and the timing. You can let it pick a recommended time or set your own.

Does my assistant publish without my approval?

No. It shows you the draft and the proposed time first, and it only schedules
